Shared mode on Meta Quest devices introduces a flexible, collaborative user environment.

It allows multiple people to use the same device while maintaining individual access and preferences. Administrators have the power to specify which applications are available to different users.

No need for a Meta account

Users in shared mode create an access code to pause their session, and can resume it after the pause. Once the session has ended, the next user in turn creates an access code to gain access.

Tailor-made experiences

Shared mode offers specific kiosk experiences with a single application, as well as multi-application configurations managed on different devices.

Batch configuration

Shared mode can be configured in batches, just like other device settings in the Admin Area. Administrators can create multiple shared mode configurations, applicable to one or more device groups with customized settings.

Flexible device management roles

IT administrators can designate shared mode managers for a specific group of devices, enabling them to customize the experience between teams. These managers are authorized to modify applications locked in the Admin Area.

Quick start without account

Shared mode is not governed by a human identity at system level, so no account is required to access the device.

Access code lock

Session management can be enhanced by the creation of simple access codes per session to guarantee the security of inactive devices.

Shared mode managers can lock/unlock applications in the Admin Area for a whole batch of devices.

Simplified experience

On session start-up, users are presented with a simplified introduction before moving on to a pre-determined application experience (via the single application experience in shared mode), or are presented with a shared mode application launcher rather than the standard VR home screen.

Brand experience

Administrators can choose to personalize and create a shared brand experience by importing their organization's logo into the Admin Area.
